The Heller Awards For Young Artists at Long Center for performing arts- 2025

In April 2025, I had the privilege of serving as a Production Assistant for the Heller Awards For Young Artists at the Long Center for Performing Arts. During this experience, I worked closely with my mentor at Oklahoma City University, Shannon Richey, who has served as the Deck Supervisor for the event for years. Under her expert guidance, I assisted with various technical aspects, including assisting with mics and supporting deck transitions, ensuring smooth and efficient changes throughout the production. I also collaborated with Amelia McKey, a fellow Production Assistant and now alumna from Oklahoma City University, to coordinate event logistics and facilitate communication across departments. Together, we ensured that every detail of the event was executed flawlessly. This experience provided me with a deep understanding of live event production, as well as an opportunity to contribute to the success of a prestigious gathering that honored excellence in the performing arts.

In August 2024, I had the privilege of leading an introductory stage management workshop at Temple Civic Theatre. Tailored for incoming stage managers and individuals interested in deepening their understanding of this critical department, the workshop was designed to broaden knowledge and improve the efficiency of the production process. Through a combination of hands-on activities and visual aids, I aimed to provide practical experience and insight into the stage management workflow, fostering a deeper appreciation for the intricate coordination required to bring a production to life.

Oklahoma City University Scenic Design 2025: Professor Jason Foreman
In my scenic design, I aimed to capture the emotion of frustration by using doors of varying sizes set at different angles to create a sense of instability and uncertainty. Light spills from the edges of the doors, emphasizing the feeling of something just out of reach. I incorporated red string and moss to symbolize tension and entanglement, while moss represents a sense of decay or persistence. Finally, a door leading to a corridor reinforces the idea of an unresolved journey, heightening the frustration of an unclear or obstructed path forward.

Oklahoma City University Theatrical Design 2022: Professor Larry Heyman
In my mask design, I decided to embody the raw agony of Oedipus’s downfall, with each element carefully chosen to reflect his suffering. The skin appears to be violently pulled from the eyes, a striking visual of his self-inflicted blindness and the unbearable truth he cannot escape. The use of papier-mâché and air-dry clay creates a rich, textured surface, mimicking torn flesh and deep scarring to heighten the sense of pain and realism. Streaks of blood reinforce the brutality of his fate, while the mask’s contorted, frowning expression captures his despair.

temple civic theatre props artisan: Spongebob: the musical

In August 2023, I worked as the props artisan for Temple Civic Theatre’s production of SpongeBob: The Musical. To enhance the show’s cartoon-inspired aesthetic, we focused on creating 2D props that captured the simplicity and vibrancy of the animated world. Collaborating with Steven Gallups and Arreyon B, I played a key role in painting and cutting out the props, ensuring they seamlessly complemented the production’s visual style.
